Lost Browns Kicker Cade York Joins Struggling NFC

In 2022, the Browns drafted kicker Cade York in the fourth round. York left and joined the unemployment line after one year and too many missed kicks.

“Coach [Brian] Daboll says Graham Gano will go on IR,” the Giants tweeted. “We are bringing in kicker Cade York from the Titans practice squad and kicker Randy Bullock.”

York was released by the Browns in late August before their first unofficial 53-man roster. York's disappointing rookie season and a bad 2023 preseason prompted the decision.

After York failed to perform as a special teams player, the Browns traded for kicker Dustin Hopkins from the Los Angeles Chargers in August.

Hopkins has 18/20 field goal attempts. He is perfect from 50 yards out (7/7), and 39 yards in (4/4). The kicker missed two 40-49-yard tries. Hopkins is also 10/10 on extra point tries this season.

Hopkins was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Weeks 6 and 7 of 2023. His most recent came after 4/4 field goals.

In Week 7, Hopkins became the only NFL kicker to make a 50-yard field goal in five straight games.
